# Webhooks Overview

# Webhooks Overview

LaikiPaydispatches asynchronous HTTP POST requests to your configured webhook URL whenever a state change occurs on your cards, such as debit settlements, funds transfers, or card freezes.

## Configuration

Webhooks are configured directly on your [Merchant Portal Dashboard](https://merchant.laikipay.com) under **Webhooks**:

1. **Webhook URL**: Enter your HTTPS endpoint (e.g. `https://api.yourcompany.com/webhooks/laikipay`).
2. **Webhook Secret**: Your HMAC-SHA256 signing secret (generated automatically, e.g. `whsec_98124b...`).
3. Click **Send Test Ping** to verify connectivity with your server.

## Retries & Idempotency

* Your webhook endpoint must return an **HTTP 200 OK** within **5 seconds**.
* If your endpoint returns a non-2xx status code or times out, LaikiPaywill automatically retry delivery up to **5 times** using exponential backoff:
  * 1st retry: after 5 minutes
  * 2nd retry: after 15 minutes
  * 3rd retry: after 1 hour
  * 4th retry: after 6 hours
  * 5th retry: after 24 hours
* Each webhook includes an `event` identifier and `reference`. We recommend logging processed references in your database to ensure idempotent handling.
